Supercomputing -- Tesla Supercomputing!
RICHMOND, Va., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- James River Technical, Inc. (JRTI), and
Velocity Micro today announced the release of VelocityHPC, a website offering
one-stop-shopping for Accelerated computing platforms ranging from
workstations to servers featuring the NVIDIA line of Tesla GPU's. This venture
signals the latest in the expansion of their joint Accelerated Computing
initiative and product offerings. In conjunction with this announcement came
the news of the immediate availability of their latest Visual Supercomputing
(VSC) Workstations, the VSC135+ and the VSC255. The VSC135+ offers an
entry-level price point into Accelerated Computing featuring the Core i7 CPU
Accelerated Edition at 4GHz and supporting up to three NVIDIA GPU's. The
VSC255 is our most robust Tesla workstation featuring Dual Nehalem Xeon 5500's
processors and supporting up to four Tesla C1060's.
"JRT and Velocity Micro are pleased to introduce VelocityHPC, the latest
evolution in our High Performance Computing initiative focused on Accelerated
Computing solutions for the marketplace," stated Leo Iantosca, CEO of JRTI.
"The VelocityHPC web site (http://www.velocitymicro.com/hpc) now provides
customers with a single web resource for all their Accelerated HPC solution
needs from stand-alone Tesla GPU's, to Accelerated Workstations to GPU
optimized applications and GPU clusters, VelocityHPC is the industry's new
one-stop shop resource."
The new VSC135+ CPU Accelerated Edition represents the combination of
Velocity's best-in-class engineering and the industry's fastest Core i7 at
4Ghz. This, coupled with GPU acceleration with up to two NVIDIA Tesla C1060's,
provides over 2 Tera-Flops of Personal Supercomputing Performance (PSC). The
VSC255 marks the introduction of JRT's and Velocity Micro's first Dual Nehalem
Xeon 5500 based platform capable of supporting up to four NVIDIA Tesla C1060's
for over 4 Tera-Flops of PSC performance in a customized and meticulously hand
built machine.
"We've leveraged our renowned engineering for high-end computing and graphics
to deliver a truly revolutionary new level of performance and affordability,"
said Chip Lowell, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for Velocity Micro.
"VelocityHPC and the latest VSC offerings bring unprecedented computational
power within the reach of a wide new audience of scientists, researchers,
educators, and designers. JRTI is the perfect partner to bring these
innovations to those communities which require this level of power."
"JRTI is pleased to further extend the Accelerated Computing Initiative with
Velocity Micro and VelocityHPC, adding to the full line of high performance,
Visual Super Computing workstation and host server platforms accelerated by
the Tesla parallel computing engine from NVIDIA. VelocityHPC solutions will
deliver unprecedented computational power to a user's compute intensive
environments, providing solutions to a much broader market across all
industries and scientific research disciplines," stated Leo Iantosca, CEO of
James River Technical. "Our goal is to accelerate the pace of discovery across
all areas of research from life sciences, medical imaging, oil & gas, product
design and beyond."
