Rentrak Makes Key Appointments in Research and Analytical Services With Bruce
Goerlich as Chief Research Officer; Michael Vinson, Ph.D as Vice President of
Statistical Sciences and Analytics

PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Rentrak Corporation (Nasdaq:
RENT), a leader in multi-screen media measurement serving the entertainment
and advertising industries, today announced the appointment of Bruce Goerlich
as the Chief Research Officer, and Michael Vinson, Ph.D, as Vice President of
Statistical Sciences and Analytics.  These newly created positions will tap
into Rentrak's deep data collection, reporting, analytical and research
capabilities to develop new research products that will provide the company's
customers with performance information regarding video advertising from
traditional linear television, video on demand, the Internet or mobile
devices.

During his 25 year career with leading advertising agencies and industry
associations, Mr. Goerlich has been deeply involved in the development of new
and actionable media research approaches including the adoption of new media
technologies, TV optimization, econometrics and understanding consumer
lifestyles. Most recently, Goerlich was the president of Strategic Resources
at ZenithOptimedia, North America, previously served as chairman of the
Advertising Research Foundation (ARF) and is a past president of the Market
Research Association.  Committed to maintaining close ties to advertising
industry leadership, Goerlich continues to serve as Co-Chair of the
Advertising Research Foundation's 360 Media Planning Committee.   

Michael Vinson, Ph.D brings a unique blend of expertise in mathematics and
theoretical physics as applied to media and advertising after most recently
serving as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Digital Insights and
Analytics at Starcom Media Vest Group.  Previously, Dr. Vinson worked at
erinMedia as the Chief Research Scientist where he was granted seven patents
relating to mathematical methods for estimating demographics from
privacy-compliant digital set-top box data.  Before joining the advertising
and media industry, Vinson was an academic and educator who holds a PhD in
theoretical physics from the University of Chicago, did post-doctoral work at
Syracuse University in Physics, won a Fulbright Scholarship to teach and do
research in computational physics at Yarmouk University in Jordan, and also
served as Chairman of the Department of Physics at Shippensberg University in
Pennsylvania.

Goerlich is a frequent speaker and contributor to research industry forums,

include a co-authored paper, presented at the 2001 International Print
Research Symposium, about using Internet techniques for print research, which
won the Chairman's Award.  Goerlich has also served as a guest lecturer in
advertising and research topics at Columbia University Business School. 
Goerlich graduated from Williams College and completed graduate work at
Washington University and the New School for Social Research.  He resides in
New York City and enjoys volunteering with St. Luke's In The Field Hospital
Visiting Team.

In addition to his Ph.D, Vinson also holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics
from Cornell University and a Masters in Physics from University of
California, Santa Barbara.  He has published dozens of academic research
papers in peer-reviewed physics, biology, and chemistry journals. He maintains
a private pilot's license, is a certified scuba diver and enjoys working in
robotics and sensor technologies as hobbies.  Vinson resides in Piedmont,
California with his family.
