Dr Pepper and Lou Holtz Team Up to Give Away More Than $1 Million in
Scholarships This College Football Season
Dr Pepper and Legendary Head Coach Lou Holtz Up Their Game to Deliver More
Than $1 Million in Scholarships

PLANO, Texas, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dr Pepper is kicking off the
college football season with a million dollar challenge. A long-time supporter
of college football, Dr Pepper has joined forces with College Football Hall of
Fame head coach Lou Holtz to give consumers and students the chance to win
more than $1 Million in scholarships throughout the 2009 college football
season. Starting Sept. 1, Dr Pepper will give away a daily $1,000 scholarship
in the $1,000 a Day Tuition Giveaway as well as the chance for three lucky
fans to win the $123,000 Scholarship Promotion & Contest.

"Dr Pepper believes that education deserves the same passion as game day,"
said Tony Jacobs, vice president of marketing for Dr Pepper. "During college
football season, Dr Pepper will deliver an unrivaled scholarship giveaway
making every day feel like Saturday."

Legendary coach Lou Holtz is uniquely qualified to represent Dr Pepper and the
Dr Pepper Scholarship Giveaway. For more than 50 years, Holtz has been a
staple in college football. From his playing days at Kent State to his
national championship season with Notre Dame, Holtz has inspired those around
him to achieve their best on the field and in the classroom.

"No matter what happens on the field, getting an education makes you a
winner," said Lou Holtz. "I'm proud to be part of the Dr Pepper Scholarship
Giveaway. It's a great program that gives me the chance to brighten the day
for some lucky college students with free tuition."

For the 14th consecutive year, Dr Pepper is offering fans the chance to win
exciting prizes in-store, online and, for several lucky consumers, on the
field. The $1,000 a Day Tuition Giveaway is open to students of any age.
Family and friends may also enter, and if a winner, donate the scholarship to
the student of their choice, by visiting DrPepper.com and entering game codes
found on specially-marked Dr Pepper and Diet Dr Pepper. Each day, one winner
will be selected from all the codes that have been entered that day.

From Sept. 1 through Nov. 16, 2009, college students (ages 18-24) can qualify
for a chance to compete to win a grand prize: tickets to one of three
Conference Championship games -- the SEC Championship on CBS presented by Dr
Pepper, the Dr Pepper ACC Championship and the Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship.
On Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 two grand-prize winners per conference championship
game will get to show their stuff on the field with a halftime throwing
competition in front of a national audience. The Dr Pepper fans will throw 10
footballs from the five-yard line into a two-foot hole cut into an oversized
Dr Pepper can replica. The fan that successfully completes the most throws in
45 seconds will win the $123,000 scholarship, with the runner-up taking home a
$23,000 scholarship prize.

The full promotion rules are available at drpepper.com. Codes for the Dr
Pepper $1,000 a Day Tuition Giveaway must be entered by Jan. 31, 2010 and
Codes for the $123,000 Scholarship Promotion & Contest must be entered by Nov.
