Extreme Networks Is Driving Broadband Into Rural America

SANTA CLARA, CA, Aug 27 (MARKET WIRE) --
Extreme Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: EXTR), today announced it is driving
broadband networks intro rural America. In concert with the U.S.
Government's Broadband Stimulus program, Extreme Networks is targeting
carriers deploying next-generation broadband networks in rural areas with
USDA RUS-Accepted solutions and proven reference architectures for
residential triple play services at the lowest total cost of ownership.
Kicking off the initiative in Texas, Extreme Networks will participate in
the Texas Telephone Association, Inc. (TTA) 2009 Convention and Product
Showcase. At the showcase, Extreme Networks will highlight a 10 Gigabit
Ethernet Transport reference architecture built with the company's Metro
Ethernet Forum (MEF) Certified and RUS-Accepted Summit(R) and
BlackDiamond(R) Ethernet transport switch families.
The TTA, of which Extreme Networks is now a member, is the trade
association that supports the Texas incumbent local exchange telephone
companies. There are 61 incumbent local exchange telephone companies
providing service to more than 13 million access lines in 1,244 exchanges
across Texas. The TTA Convention & Product Showcase is being held August
30 to September 2 in San Antonio, Texas
