WHAT: The National Archives will hold a one-time only briefing to update the
media on the progress of the Electronic Records Archives (ERA). Begun in
2005, ERA is the National Archives signature program built to ensure that the
government's electronic records with lasting value are preserved and made
accessible into the future and to automate the National Archives management of
the lifecycle of all government records. The briefing will focus on the first
two increments of the system: the creation of ERA Base which provides
lifecycle management, inspection and storage of federal electronic records;
and loading and searching records of the Bush Administration; and will then
look ahead to next steps.
