Commits $250,000 toward dealer education during upcoming CEDIA Expo
HARRISON, N.Y.--(Business Wire)--
Universal Remote Control®, Inc. (URC), the pioneer in control technology,
announced today that it has received uncommon recognition from the Custom
Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA). URC`s PSX-2 Personal
Server, which effectively turns an iPod into a full-fledged audio/video server,
is one of 30 finalists for CEDIA`s Best New Product award, while its upcoming
KP-4000 Network Keypad and MRX-1 Network Base Station solution is one of three
finalists for CEDIA`s Best New Technology award.

Both awards are part of CEDIA`s Manufacturers` Excellence Award program; winners
will be announced at CEDIA EXPO 2009, to be held September 10 through 13 in
Atlanta. Many of the 400-plus CEDIA EXPO exhibitors entered products in the
awards competition. URC, which has sold over 50 million remote controls over the
last decade into various channels, appreciates its twin award nominations as
acknowledgement of its steadfast commitment to innovation for dealers and end
users in the residential custom A/V installation industry.

At CEDIA EXPO, URC will introduce several new products, including the first
wand-style touch screen remote with haptic (vibrating feedback) technology and
its first products based on the ZigBee networking standard.

As many companies in the CEDIA channel continue to cut back in a difficult
economy, URC continues to invest heavily in its products, technologies and
dealers. Although URC is well-known for its advanced technology, its real focus
is on dealer training. In the CEDIA world, the user`s control experience depends
entirely on the programming skill of the custom installer; URC does not sell its
highly functional professional remotes directly to consumers because their
capabilities can only be fully exploited by a trained installer. To further
encourage dealers to get educated on its latest offerings, URC will offer 15
free training seminars at CEDIA EXPO and invest $250,000 in seminars, door
prizes and other endeavors during CEDIA week.

URC executives are available for comment on the state of the custom
installation, CEDIA and luxury goods industries.
