Miracle Mile Players Announce 2009 TarFest Schedule of Events

Seventh Annual Event Kicks Off September 25, 2009 With Three Days of
Festivities




LOS ANGELES, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Miracle Mile Players presents the
Seventh Annual TarFest, September 25 - 27, 2009, in the Miracle Mile District
of Los Angeles.

The festival begins September 25 at 6 p.m. at the Korean Cultural Center, 5505
Wilshire Blvd, with an art exhibition juried by Rita Gonzalez, Curator,
American Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). The opening reception
of works by 12 local artists selected from over 500 submissions is free to the
public and runs through October 10.

TarFest continues, September 26, with the TarFest Film Festival featuring a
series of shorts and music videos, each running no longer than five minutes,
created by local filmmakers.  The film festival, free to the public, will be
held from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. in the theatre of the Korean Cultural Center.

After the film screening, The El Rey Theatre, 5515 Wilshire Blvd. hosts the
TarFest Music Festival, which features 3 bands including headliner, The Deadly
Syndrome.  Video installation or live painting will accompany each act.
Sculpture and installation art will be presented by the Los Angeles Art
Association. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for this all-ages show
which benefits local youth arts, athletic and leadership programs.

The final day of the festival is September 27 at 9:00 a.m. with The Miracle
Mile Grand Prix which includes a 5k and 1 mile run. Both runs takes place on
Wilshire Blvd. at Sycamore Ave. with a total of $1000 in cash prizes awarded
to the top three male and female runners with the best combined times for both

LaBonge and the Miracle Mile Chamber of Commerce.  Financial and in-kind
support provided by Genton Barth, BRE Properties, Olympia Medical Center, The
Grove, Shoedazzle, Beverly Center, Park LaBrea, Farmers Market, Nike, and
Hurley.  Proceeds will benefit LACMA Arts for NexGen, LAPD Wilshire Division
Explorers, and Fairfax High School arts and athletic programs.
