Designation Puts University at Top 15 Percent of Those Embracing Vets as
Students
PHOENIX--(Business Wire)--
With a team of veterans exclusively dedicated to helping active duty and retired
military accomplish their educational pursuits, Grand Canyon University (GCU)
was recently named to the list of the top military friendly institutions by GI
Jobs Magazine.

"With our division staffed by veterans, we have first-hand understanding of the
opportunities and aspirations of active-duty and retired service men and women,"
said Wendy Proffitt, director of GCU's military division. "Our team members are
completely focused on helping students navigate the tuition assistance
opportunities to determine the best course for their own personal situation."

The list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools
which are doing the most to embrace America`s veterans as students. Schools on
the list range from state universities and private colleges to community
colleges and trade schools.

"This list is especially important now because the recently enacted Post-9/11 GI
Bill has given veterans virtually unlimited financial means to go to school,"
said Rich McCormack, G.I. Jobs publisher. "Veterans can now enroll in any
school, provided they`re academically qualified."

Criteria for making the Military Friendly Schools list included efforts to
recruit and retain military and veteran students, results in recruiting military
and veteran students and academic accreditations. Schools on the list also offer
additional benefits to student veterans such as on-campus veterans programs,
credit for service, military spouse programs and more. The list was compiled
through exhaustive research starting last May during which G.I. Jobs polled more
than 7,000 schools nationwide.

GCU's military division can assist potential students with several VA
educational benefits, such as the Montgomery GI Bill, Post 9/11 GI Bill, Tuition
Assistance (Top-Up), Tutorial Assistance, and Vocational Rehabilitation. For
additional information, visit www.gcu.edu or call 800-800-9776 and ask for a
military enrollment counselor.

GCU offers competitive tuition rates for both online and traditional campus
students that in some cases is nearly half of the national average for private
college tuition. Its regional accreditation is an attractive feature for
students located out-of-state who desire a rich academic experience from a
credible institution. GCU was recently recognized by an online learning systems
provider for its robust online curriculum.
