Triple-Bottom-Line Report Outlines First Fully-Integrated Record of Economic,
Ecological and Social Responsibility of Any U.S. Passenger Airline
FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AMR, the parent company
of American Airlines and its regional affiliate, American Eagle, today
released its first fully integrated Corporate Responsibility Report, providing
a comprehensive three point view of the company's environmental performance,
corporate citizenship and economic efforts for 2008.
This is the first triple-bottom-line report issued by a U.S.-based passenger
airline that meets the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Level C reporting,
which produces one of the world's most prevalent standards for sustainability
reporting - also known as ecological footprint - guidelines.
"As a company, we strive to make American and American Eagle good places to
work, good corporate neighbors, and to make a positive impact in the
communities we serve. These values are at the heart of who we are and who we
have been for more than 80 years," said Peggy Sterling, American's Vice
President - Safety, Security and Environmental. "The publishing of this report
is a major milestone along AMR's journey to become a better corporate citizen.
Through this report, we are showcasing our commitment to being a responsible
corporation for everyone we touch - our employees, our customers, and the
communities where we work, live and play."
The theme of the Corporate Responsibility Report is "commitment." The report
provides a clear picture of AMR's commitment to being a responsible
corporation, describes the steps being taken to meet the commitments to the
company's many constituencies, and highlights how AMR employees worldwide
demonstrate care and citizenship.
Highlights of the report include:
