Pennsylvania State Transportation Commission Announces Hearing Schedule For
New Program Update

HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The State Transportation
Commission will conduct a series of public hearings across the state over the
next three months to gather public input for the 2011 update of the
commonwealth's 12-Year Transportation Program.

The Department of Transportation, along with the 23 regional planning partners
across the state, will administer the hearings.

The Transportation Program is updated every two years and serves as a
"blueprint" of prioritized transportation projects. Act 120 of 1970, as
amended, requires PennDOT to prepare and submit a program of transportation
improvements every two years to Commission for consideration.

The first regional meetings will be held at the following locations:

    --  Wednesday, Sept. 2 - Philadelphia, Delaware Valley Regional Planning
        Commission, 190 North Independence Mall West, 8th Floor Conference
Room.

    --  Thursday, Sept. 3 - Wilkes-Barre, Best Western East Mountain Inn and
        Suites, 2400 East End Blvd., West and Vista Rooms.


Oral testimony will be accepted in person at the public hearings. To schedule
oral testimony, contact the Commission office at (717) 787-2913 by Monday,
Aug. 31.

In addition to oral testimony, persons can submit written testimony via email,
fax, mail, or by completing the "Project Abstract Form" online at:
www.dot.state.pa.us.  Written testimony can be sent directly to the Commission
via email at RA-PennDOTSTC@state.pa.us, faxed to (717) 787-5247, or mailed to:
 State Transportation Commission, P.O. Box 3633, Harrisburg, PA 17105-3633. 
Written testimony is considered by the Commission in the same manner as
testimony presented orally at the scheduled public hearings.  All written
testimonies must be received by Nov. 13 to be considered for the 2011
Transportation Program.

The 15-member Commission includes the Transportation Secretary, 10 private
citizens appointed by the Governor, and the majority and minority chairmen of
the state Senate and House Transportation Committees. For more information,
