ATHENS Aug 27 (Reuters) - A Greek fire-fighting plane crashed while battling a blaze on the Ionian Sea island of Kefalonia on Thursday, the fire brigade said.

"We are not sure about the pilot's fate," said a fire official who declined to be named.

Greece's water-drop planes fought hard to bring under control a three-day wildfire that destroyed about 150 homes and thousands of hectares of forest and farm land near Athens earlier this week. (Reporting by Angeliki Koutantou; Editing by Jon Hemming)
