(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1300 GMT on Friday.

* EASTERN AFGHANISTAN - A U.S. serviceman was killed when the vehicle he was riding in struck a roadside bomb in eastern Afghanistan, NATO-led forces said in a statement. It gave no further details of the location of the incident.

KUNDUZ - A joint force of NATO and Afghan troops killed several insurgents including a woman during a search of compounds in the northern Chardara district of Kunduz province on Thursday, NATO-led troops said in a statement.

The dead woman fighter was armed with an assault rifle and wearing a full chest rack of ammunition, NATO said.

One civilian was also wounded in crossfire, it said.

District chief, Abdul Wahed Omarkhil said foreign troops had also killed three members of a family.

GHAZNI - Taliban insurgents ambushed a convoy of Afghan counter-narcotics police, killing three and wounding 23 others on the outskirts of Ghazni city, southwest of Kabul, provincial police chief Khial Baz Sherzai said.

KHOST - Four Afghan police officers were killed when their military vehicle struck a roadside bomb in the eastern Ali Sher district of Khost province on Thursday, said Sher Ahmad, a district police officer.

KANDAHAR - NATO-led and Afghan forces detained six militants during an operation on the southern outskirts of Kandahar city on Thursday, NATO-led forces said.
