LA police to refer Jackson case to prosecutors

LOS ANGELES | Fri Aug 28, 2009 3:34pm EDT

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Los Angeles police on Friday said they will refer their investigation into the death of pop star Michael Jackson to local prosecutors to consider whether to file criminal charges.

In a statement, the Los Angeles Police Department said the investigation into the "Thriller" singer's death is still ongoing and that it will continue working with state and federal authorities until it concludes the probe.

No further details were immediately available, and the police said they would not comment beyond their statement.
