Smith gets seven game ban for reckless driving
NEW YORK |
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Denver Nuggets shooting guard J.R Smith has been suspended for seven games after pleading guilty to reckless driving, the NBA said in a statement on Friday.
A passenger in Smith's car died in an accident in 2007 and Smith served 24 days in jail last month.
The NBA said in a statement that Smith was suspended without pay and the suspension would begin from the first NBA regular season game for which he was able to play. Phoenix Suns' Jason Richardson was suspended for two matches after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol.
