Sharp to help set up 8th-gen LCD plant in China

TOKYO Aug 31 (Reuters) - Japan's Sharp Corp (6753.T) said on Monday it will help create a joint venture with Nanjing City and China Electronics Corp to make LCD panels using 8th-generation glass substrates to meet growing demand in China.

Sharp also said it would provide equipment to make 6th-generation LCD panels for the new company, Nanjing CEC-Panda LCD Technology Co, set up between Nanjing City and Nanjing China Electronics Panda Group Corp. (Reporting by Mayumi Negishi)
