U.S. commander says Afghanistan situation "serious"
KABUL |
KABUL (Reuters) - The commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan described the situation in the country on Monday as "serious," but said success could be achieved there with a revised strategy.
U.S. Army General Stanley McChrystal delivered his assessment to U.S. and NATO commanders on Monday in a long-awaited review of strategy, the NATO-led force in Afghanistan said in a statement. Military officials have given no word in public as to whether McChrystal will seek additional troops.
