Kratos Recently Awarded $1.25M Task Order to Provide Rocket Launch Services,
Engineering Support and Associated Hardware for the AEGIS Ballistic Missile
Defense (BMD) Japanese Flight Test Mission (JFTM-4)

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 1, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kratos Defense & Security
Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:KTOS), a leading national defense, IT and security
solutions provider, today announced the award of a $1.25 million dollar task
order under the U.S. Army Multiple Award Contract (MAC) for Theoretical Studies
and Engineering Research. The Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Organization
has tasked the Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme Division White Sands
(NSWC PHD Det WS) to engineer, integrate and flight test a family of sub-orbital

In addition to the U.S. Navy, a number of allied navies, including the Japanese
Navy, are incorporating Aegis BMD capability into their defensive arsenals.
Under this Task Order Award, the Rocket Support Services Business Unit of
Kratos, through its contract with NSWC PHD Det WS, will provide sub-orbital
rocket & target hardware and launch support for the fourth of an ongoing series
of Aegis BMD test missions conducted jointly with the Japanese Navy, dubbed
JFTM-4. This test is expected to be conducted in fall of 2010. In addition to
this recent award, representatives from Kratos RSS will be participating in
related efforts for JFTM-3 scheduled for fall of 2009.

"We are extremely pleased to be working with NSWC PHD Det WS to provide a low
cost solution to meet AEGIS BMD test requirements" said David Carter, Executive
