Wonders of Life Photo Contest to Get Americans Thinking About Life Insurance
Needs

ARLINGTON, Va., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- If you had a choice between thinking
about life insurance or entering a photo contest with the chance to win great
prizes, which would you choose? Okay, don't answer that. But what if you could
do both at the same time? In conjunction with the beginning of Life Insurance
Awareness Month, the nonprofit LIFE Foundation today kicked off the "Wonders
of Life" Photo Contest to provide Americans with a fun way to get them
thinking about their life insurance needs.

Photo Contest Details

Throughout September, Americans are encouraged to visit www.wondersoflife.org
and upload a photograph that captures a wondrous moment in the life of their
family, the kind of moment that life insurance can preserve.

"People want the very best for their loved ones and work hard to provide them
with a comfortable lifestyle and every opportunity to experience the wondrous
moments that life has to offer," said Marvin H. Feldman, CLU, ChFC, RFC,
president and CEO of LIFE. "But people need to think about what would happen
to their loved ones' quality of life if something were to happen to them. We
hope that our contest will help Americans realize how life insurance can help
preserve all that they've worked so hard to achieve."

The grand prize winner will receive a Canon T1i, 12.2-Megapixel Digital SLR
Camera. Five runners-up will win $150 gift cards to BestBuy.com. LIFE will
announce the winners of the "Wonders of Life" Photo Contest on or around
November 18, 2009 and feature winning photos on its website. The deadline to
enter is September 30, 2009. Entrants must be 18 years or older. For more
information about the contest, visit www.wondersoflife.org.

Chris Noth is the national LIAM spokesperson

Another way LIFE hopes to get Americans to think about their life insurance
needs is by engaging the services of a celebrity spokesperson with a firsthand
understanding of the benefits of life insurance. Actor Chris Noth, star of Sex
and the City and Law & Order, was just nine years old when his father died in
a car accident, leaving behind his mother to raise Chris and his two brothers
on her own. Fortunately, Chris' father was an insurance agent and understood
the value of life insurance. The proceeds from his insurance helped the Noth
family during that difficult time and enabled Chris' single, working mother to
put three sons through college. Throughout September, Chris' story will be
shared publicly in national TV and radio and public service announcements.
Chris' 60-second TV PSA can be seen at www.lifehappens.org/chrisnoth.

Insurance Information on the Web

The LIFE Foundation coordinates LIAM on behalf of the life insurance industry
and the public is encouraged to visit its website for help understanding their
life insurance needs. LIFE's homepage, located at www.lifehappens.org,
currently features links to Chris Noth's TV PSA, a short video that explains
how life insurance can preserve the "wonders of life," and links to popular
site features such as LIFE's Life Insurance Needs Calculator and its Life
Insurance 101 Flash video.

LIFE also maintains dynamic sites on YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn, and is
particularly active on Twitter. In addition to sending out a life insurance
tweet every business day during the month of September, LIFE is using the
popular micro-blogging website to develop the ultimate list of the "wonders of
life insurance." On August 19, 2009, LIFE launched the "Wonders of Life
Insurance" Twitter Contest. The promotion runs through September 18, 2009.
Everyone who submits an eligible tweet will be entered into a raffle to win a
flip video camera. The first 500 people to submit eligible tweets will receive
a "7 Wonders of Life Insurance" scroll pen. More information about the Twitter
Contest is available at www.lifehappens.org/twittercontest.

realLIFEstories to Be Featured in Newsweek

For the 14th consecutive year, LIFE has partnered with Newsweek, Inc. on the
realLIFEstories Client Service Award Program. Earlier this year, LIFE and
Newsweek asked insurance agents to share stories describing how insurance
helped their clients at times of great financial and emotional need. The four
top stories, as determined by an independent judging panel, will be featured
in the September 14, 2009 issue of Newsweek, available on newsstands beginning
on September 7, 2009.

An Industry-wide Campaign

September has become a focal point in the industry's attempt to address the
problem of too many Americans lacking adequate life insurance protection. LIFE
estimates that 68 million adult Americans have no life insurance at all, and
most with coverage have far less than experts recommend. In response to this
underinsurance problem, hundreds of life insurance organizations and thousands
of individual producers participate in LIAM each year. Some of the nation's
top companies participating this year include State Farm, New York Life, Penn
Mutual, AEGON, MassMutual, John Hancock, Guardian, Principal Financial Group,
Prudential, Southern Farm Bureau, COUNTRY Financial, American National, Farm
Family and Illinois Mutual.

About Life Insurance Awareness Month

Life Insurance Awareness Month was created by the LIFE Foundation in response
to growing concern about the large number of Americans who lack adequate life
insurance protection. According to LIMRA International, 68 million adult
Americans have no life insurance, and most with coverage have far less than
most experts recommend. Held each September, Life Insurance Awareness Month is
an industry-wide effort involving hundreds of leading companies and thousands
of insurance advisors.
