LONDON, Sept 3 (Reuters) - McBride (MCB.L), Europe's biggest maker of retailer own-brand household products, posted a 34 percent rise in annual profit on Thursday and said it had made a good start to its new financial year.

The British firm, which supplies supermarkets like Tesco (TSCO.L) and Carrefour (CARR.PA) with own-label goods ranging from dishwasher tablets to deodorant, said it made operating profit before one-off items and goodwill of 36.2 million pounds ($59.1 million) in the year ended June 30.

McBride said in June it would make a profit of at least 35 million pounds as recession-hit shoppers switch to cheaper own-brand products.

"We have made a good start to the new financial year, continuing the trend in the second half of last year," Chief Executive Miles Roberts said in a statement. ($1=.6128 Pound) (Reporting by Mark Potter; Editing by Hans Peters)
