Radiohead singer releasing solo single this month

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke confirmed the details of his forthcoming single release Thursday with a posting on the band's website.

Two songs - "FeelingPulledApartbyHorses" and "Hollow Earth" -- will be released on September 21 as a limited-edition 12-inch vinyl single, which the band is making available on its own website. The vinyl single includes a free digital download of the two songs, which will also be available as paid downloads around October 6, according to Yorke's statement.

According to Billboard sources, Yorke is considering some dates before the end of the year for live performances in support of the music - potentially his first with a band other than Radiohead - but details remain unconfirmed.

The "Feeling..." track is an older Radiohead song that is performed by Yorke and the band's guitarist Jonny Greenwood. "Hollow Earth" was originally recorded for Yorke's 2006 solo album "The Eraser," "but needed a little more time," he wrote. Both tracks were produced by Radiohead's longtime collaborator Nigel Godrich.

The announcement of the new Yorke material comes at a time of renewed activity for the band. On August 17, the band released a new song, "These Are My Twisted Words," as a free download on its website. On August 5, it issued the digital track "Harry Patch (In Memory Of)," with proceeds going to the British Legion, the U.K. charity that supports the armed forces and its veterans. Harry Patch, who died aged 111 on July 25, was Britain's last surviving veteran of World War I.

Radiohead does not have a long-term label deal, releasing its 2007 set "In Rainbows" via its own Web site on a pay-what-you-want basis for the MP3 and following that with a full release in January 2008 via XL Recordings in the U.K and ATO/Red in the U.S.
