China security forces use tear gas in far-west city
BEIJING |
BEIJING (Reuters) - Security forces in far-west China's strife-hit city of Urumqi used tear gas to break up fresh protests on Friday, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
"Tear gas has been deployed to disperse the protesters," said the brief English-language report.
On Thursday, in Urumqi, the regional capital of Xinjiang province, many thousands of Han Chinese protesters gathered to demand official action over claims of syringe attacks. Smaller protests flared on Friday.
