Russia's MegaFon Q2 net profit falls 10.8 pct

MOSCOW, Sept 7 (Reuters) - MegaFon, Russia's third-largest wireless operator, said on Monday its second-quarter net profit fell 10.8 percent year-on-year due mainly to currency effects.
MegaFon, ranked third after MTS (MBT.N) and Vimpelcom (VIP.N), saw net profit fall to 9 billion roubles ($284.8 million), while sales grew 3.4 percent to 43.9 billion roubles.
Earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) edged up 0.6 percent to stand at 20.7 billion roubles for an EBITDA margin of 47.1 percent.
The company, part owned by Sweden's TeliaSonera (TLSN.ST), also said its Russian monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) fell 13.4 percent to 322 roubles from 372 roubles a year ago. (Reporting by Anastasia Teterevleva and Maria Kiselyova; Editing by David Holmes) ($1=31.60 Rouble)
