Toshiba: to make 28-nm chips on own, outsource extra

TOKYO, Sept 7 (Reuters) - Japan's Toshiba Corp (6502.T) said on Monday it will stick to its plans to make next-generation 28-nanometre chips at its own plant in Oita, southern Japan, but it may outsource some production if its capacity is insufficient.

But Toshiba spokeswomen Hiroko Mochida declined to comment on a report that it is talks with Singapore's Chartered Semiconductor CSMF.SI and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.N) spinoff Globalfoundries about contracting out extra chip production.
