LENEXA, Kan.--(Business Wire)-- EcoFit Lighting announced the debut of its DuraStreet™ Series LED Light Engine. DuraStreet is the industry`s first high-output LED light engine that fits virtually all existing street lighting fixtures including cobra heads, shoe boxes, and other area and site lighting fixtures. The simple installation process requires less than five minutes, and virtually no training or special tools are required. Unlike most full-fixture LED street lighting products on the market today, DuraStreet enables customers to replace their current roadway lighting sources without generating the waste associated with replacing entire street lighting fixtures. DuraStreet offers unparalleled energy efficiency, providing light output equivalent to existing HID (high intensity discharge) lighting fixtures while using less then half the energy. DuraStreet also requires essentially no maintenance. Using high-performance Cree® LEDs, custom-designed Fraen® optics and proprietary electronic power supplies, DuraStreet is designed to provide trouble-free performance for well over a decade in virtually all applications. All EcoFit products are Made-in-America. EcoFit provides a five-year warranty on LEDs and power supplies, and a ten-year warranty on chassis components. "LED technology has progressed rapidly during the past few years, and we can now produce LED roadway lighting that is more energy efficient than HID sources, lasts longer, and provides vastly improved lighting quality. Our proprietary design provides the LED heat management required to ensure 20 years of maintenance-free operation in most U.S. climates," said Cason Coplin, CEO of EcoFit Lighting. "Many of our customers are using Federal stimulus funds and utility rebates to retrofit existing roadway lighting systems and enjoy remarkably short paybacks on their investment." "We believe the time is right for a new level of transparency regarding LED lighting performance data, all of which is available for download from our website (www.ecofitlighting.com)," commented Keith Bahde, Ph.D., EcoFit`s Vice President of Sales & Marketing. "Our customers have expressed how much they appreciate the accessibility of independent, third-party test reports verifying photometric and thermal performance, especially when facing the adoption of such a new technology." DuraStreet is available immediately to replace 70, 100 and 150/175 watt HID lighting systems, and the introduction of a 250 watt HID replacement is expected in October, 2009.
