Jive Software Gains Momentum in Government as User Adoption Soars 900 Percent
in Less Than a Year
PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Company News
-- Jive, the Social Business Software leader, today announced that its
Government business is gaining momentum, as the public sector embraces
Social Business Software at a rapid clip. In less than a year, the
number of people in the U.S. Federal Government using Jive SBS has
increased by 900%.
-- Working with organizations including NASA, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Air
Force Medical Services and members of the U.S. intelligence community,
Jive is helping to connect the dots in a more productive, innovative
way
- agency to agency, department to department, people to people and
system to system. Jive Social Business Software (SBS) employs the
most
rigorous security measures in the industry, and is essentially the
defacto standard for the intelligence community, with tens of
thousands
of users.
-- Jive is increasing investments in its Government business to
capitalize
on this momentum. In July, Jive hired industry veteran Jim Kovach,
leveraging his nearly 20 years of experience with the Department of
Defense and U.S. Intelligence Community.
-- Jive is a founding sponsor of the Government 2.0 Expo in Washington
D.C.
on September 8th. The Jive booth can be found in the Concourse just
outside of Room 146 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
Customer and Partner Highlights
-- A-Space : A-Space, a social network for U.S. intelligence analysts and
covert operatives across multiple agencies, allows analysts to monitor
and share critical information on geopolitical events ranging from the
Avian Bird Flu and piracy in Somalia to averting potential terrorist
threats. Just over a year after its inception, A-Space is now adding
150 users a day. With partner, Mantech, it was recently announced
that
Jive will power the next phase of the "A-Space Next" project,
and will continue to build out this powerful network.
-- National Journal Group's 3121 : NationalJournal.com opened its new
site, 3121, to private beta last month, with a full launch expected in
September. 3121 arms congressional members and their staff with the
content, collaboration tools and contact information they need to help
make the legislative process more effective. For example, 3121 will
include a secure directory of key staffers, with biographical and job
information and will ultimately serve an audience of up to 10,000.
-- Air Force Medical Services : Air Force Medical Services (AFMS)
Knowledge Exchange is the hub of 20,000 Department of Defense medical

stationed in remote locations across the globe.
-- Carahsoft Partnership: Jive SBS is now available via GSA schedule
through a partnership with Carahsoft Technology Corp., a leading
government IT solutions provider. Carahsoft is a top-ranked GSA
Schedule Contract holder that serves as the master government
aggregator
for many of its best-of-breed vendors. As part of this partnership,
Carahsoft will provide proactive sales and marketing support to drive
demand for Jive SBS in the public sector. Jive is the only Social
Business Software platform offered by Carahsoft.
Analyst Commentary
-- "Internal communities can play a key role in transforming internal
operations by allowing government employees to share knowledge,
achieve
process improvements, and respond more swiftly to unexpected events
for
which there are no procedures or where processes prove inadequate,"
said Andrea DiMaio, VP Distinguished Analyst with Gartner.
"Communities go beyond simply providing knowledge about a subject
or topic. They provide a means for members to benefit from the
expertise
and experience of peers regardless of geography or department
silo."
Jive Commentary
-- "We are thrilled to be working with agencies responding to
President Obama's call for a more collaborative and participatory
government," said Dave Hersh, CEO, Jive Software. "When
government agencies can collaborate in a scalable and completely
secure
environment, a powerful amount of knowledge is unleashed, and true
progress is made. Agencies including Air Force Medical Services and
members of the U.S. intelligence community are putting Jive SBS to
work
for new and productive ways of serving citizens."
-- "Social Business Software is helping government agencies connect
people, content, and collaboration activities; a critical requirement
that in the past had been difficult to do securely and efficiently
across departmental silos," said Jim Kovach, Director, Federal
Sales, Jive Software. "For example, the A-Space 'Facebook for
Spies' program has truly answered the 9/11 Commission's
directive for 'Analytical Transformation' and has eclipsed the
10,000 user mark."
