Senate's Reid wants bipartisan healthcare reform bill
WASHINGTON |
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Congress should pass bipartisan healthcare reform legislation this year, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said on Tuesday.
"We're determined to pass a good bipartisan bill and do it this year," Reid, a Democrat, told the Senate which has just returned from its summer recess.
The legislation should help stabilize health insurance for those who have it and help secure it for those who don't, Reid said. It should "keep the insurance industry honest, and lower costs," he added.
