CBS renews "Big Brother"

Thu Sep 10, 2009 12:27am EDT

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "Big Brother" will return to CBS next summer for a 12th edition.

The three-times-a-week reality series had a sluggish start, but its viewership grew each week to challenge top-rated rivals like NBC's "America's Got Talent."

"Brother" is one of only a handful of summer reality shows to show ratings growth this year, up 7 percent in viewers.

The current season airs its two-hour finale Tuesday (September 15).
