IQwind Recognized by the Guardian and Cleantech Group for Its Potential to
Achieve Major Impact in the Wind Energy Market

IQwind, a producer of innovative variable gearbox technology (IQGearTM) that
significantly reduces the cost of energy generated by wind turbines, has been
named a Global Cleantech 100 company by Guardian News and Media and Cleantech
Group, LLC. 

IQwind received the award on the basis of its unique variable gearbox design,
which can be both retrofitted into existing turbines and utilized as a standard
component in newly-manufactured turbines. The high efficiency IQwind technology
can reduce the cost of energy (COE) by up to 25% compared to the best existing
wind turbines, increasing the overall potential and cost-effectiveness of wind
as an alternative renewable energy source. 

The company has recently signed an agreement with Spain-based Guascor to jointly
bring to market products based on the IQgearbox. The first product is a 750KW
IQgearbox for the retrofit market planned to be launched next year. A new 2.5MW
turbine (IQTurbineTM) based on the IQGear technology is currently in the design
phase. 

The Global Cleantech 100 is the first ever list highlighting the most promising
private clean technology companies around the world. Supported by the Carbon
Trust, the Global Cleantech 100 recognizes companies at the forefront of
cleantech innovation offering solutions to some of the world`s most pressing
environmental challenges. 

The panel`s views were combined with insights from the Cleantech Network, the de
facto industry association of international clean technology investors,
entrepreneurs, large corporations and other industry insiders. Some 3,500
companies were nominated/ considered. 

The final list represents the collective opinion of hundreds of leading experts
from cleantech innovation and venture capital companies in EMEA, North America,
India and China, combined with the specific input of an expert panel of 35,
drawn from well-respected organizations such as Altira Group, Crossover
Advisors, Deloitte, Emerald Technology Ventures, Google, Kleiner Perkins
Caulfield & Byers, New York Stock Exchange, NGEN Partners, Nth Power, New
Enterprise Associates, Sterling Communications, Tsing Capital and Vantage Point
Venture Partners.
