UBS (UBSN.VX)

The Swiss bank hired Bora Sila as managing director and head of Americas retail coverage within its global consumer products and retail group.

Sila will report to Guy Phillips, global head of consumer products and retail group. Most recently, Sila worked at Citigroup.

JEFFERIES & CO (JEF.N)

The company hired Mike Grady as a managing director in its consumer & retail investment banking group. Most recently, he worked at Wachovia Securities.

COWEN GROUP (COWN.O)

The financial firm appointed Don Munoz as a managing director in the investment banking group to lead the firm's medical technology practice.

Most recently, Munoz was a managing director at Leerink Swann. He will report to Peter Reikes, head of Cowen's health care investment banking group.

CME GROUP (CME.O)

The derivatives exchange announced several appointments to its legal & regulatory team.

Ann Shuman, managing director & deputy general counsel, has been promoted to an expanded role that will include legal support for regulatory policy initiatives.

CME also appointed Christopher Bowen as managing director, chief regulatory counsel, and named Timothy Smith as managing director & associate general counsel.

NYSE EURONEXT (NYX.N)(NYX.PA)

The exchange operator appointed Vincent Van Dessel as chairman of the board of Euronext Brussels, as a member of the managing board of Euronext N.V., as well as to the management committee of the parent company. Van Dessel was previously general manager of Euronext Brussels.

COLLINS STEWART CLST.L

The financial advisor appointed Simon Davies as media analyst. Davies was previously media analyst and head of small and mid-cap research at RBS/ABN Amro.

The private equity firm appointed Sundip Murthy as growth capital principal for 3i North America. Previously, Murthy was vice president at The Carlyle Group.

MACQUARIE GROUP (MQG.AX)

Macquarie Group said Kevin Smith, previously with Credit Suisse Securities, will join the New York office of Macquarie Capital (USA) in the fourth quarter of 2009 as a managing director.

The group also appointed Peter Kind as senior managing director in its U.S. advisory and capital markets business, covering power and utilities. Kind leaves Bank of America Securities, where he was a managing director.

ICAP

The interdealer broker hired Laura Prager and Linda Prager as co-heads and managing directors of its alternative investments group, which will provide assistance to investors interested in buying and selling secondary interests in hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds and other illiquid assets.

STERNE AGEE

Sharon Stark joined the company's fixed income division as a managing director and will serve as a fixed income strategist. Prior to joining Sterne Agee, Stark served as senior advisor to the deputy director of the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS).

PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS LLP

The provider of assurance, tax and advisory services said it appointed Kenneth Sheridan, previously with Navigant Consulting, as a director in the revenue cycle practice and John Geraghty, previously with Perot Systems, as a director in the healthcare provider practice. It also hired nine other professionals across the payer, provider and pharmaceutical & life sciences sectors.
