LONG BEACH, Calif. & WASHINGTON--(Business Wire)--
"One of the clearest indications of our nation`s growing commitment to bicycling
and alternative transportation is the new Bikestation Washington, D.C.," stated
Andrea White-Kjoss, chief executive officer, Mobis Transportation/Bikestation.
White-Kjoss made the statement in her announcement of the near completion of the
new landmark facility located at Union Station near the U.S. Capitol. "We
believe," White-Kjoss continued, "that legislators passing by and using
Bikestation D.C. will have the opportunity to see a new transportation paradigm
working right before their eyes and they`ll understand better how alternative
transportation centers might work in their states."

Bikestation Washington, D.C., which will house 130 bicycles in 1,600 sq. ft. of
free-standing ultra-modern glass and steel design, is part of a growing network
of Bikestations and related transit centers springing up in cities across the
U.S. that are planned, implemented and often operated by Mobis
Transportation/Bikestation. As a completely secure facility available by
membership, Bikestation Washington, D.C. represents this new approach to
alternative transportation. The facility will be staffed 66 hours per week and
available to members 24/7. In addition to secure bike parking, the facility also
provides a changing room, lockers, bike rental, bike repair and retail sales.
The Bikestation location at Union Station allows commuters to take public
transportation to the station, pick up their bicycles and go to work, shopping
or entertainment.

According to White-Kjoss, "The bicycle is one of the most under-utilized
resources in the U.S. On average, every home has at least one and yet bikes sit
gathering dust at times because of people`s justifiable concerns about theft,
safety and convenience. Bikestations are designed to overcome those fears and
put bicycles to work as viable transportation when combined with other
alternatives to cars."

Bikestation consulted with the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) and
project manager, Parsons, on the bicycle-transit component of the Union Station
Redevelopment Project. Mobis provided facility siting, recommendations on
traffic flow, facility design, operations planning, and public input and
response to contractors on design and construction of the facilities.

White-Kjoss concluded, "Our past experience shows that 30 percent of Bikestation
users were previously driving a car for commuting and 60 percent have
significantly increased their use of their bicycles because of the services,
security and convenience the Bikestation offers. We expect at least these
results in D.C."
