ClearFoundation's ClearOS further completes IT environments through ClearCenter,
ClearSDN, and third party applications
SALT LAKE CITY--(Business Wire)--
ClearFoundation announced today that ClearOS 5.1 will be available September 30,
2009 at www.clearfoundation.com, the newly unveiled Web site for
ClearFoundation. ClearOS is a next-generation Linux server operating
distribution for the small organizations and distributed environments. The
ClearOS Linux distribution has an installed-base of over 120,000 systems that
serve approximately 1.2 Million users. It is available in over 20 languages and
is utilized in more than 122 countries around the globe.

Historically known as ClarkConnect, ClearOS has been made open and free by
ClearFoundation, including software such as MultiWAN which allows multiple,
balanced Internet connections. Other limitations and commercial restrictions on
the ClearOS platform have also been removed for this version, and all subsequent
versions. The ClearOS Operating System tightly integrates dozens of leading open
source applications in a single management interface. The distribution is free
to download and use and redistribution is encouraged.

"ClearOS, a Linux distribution that is an entirely open and free operating
system platform, is being actively expanded by a large community of developers
dedicated to meeting simple IT needs," said Michael Proper, Chairman of the
ClearFoundation. "Open source technology, starting in the small environments,
will sweep change through the entire networking market. ClearOS offers the
highest level of integration and openness available in the open source
community. Many elements, including MultiWAN, HotLAN, and unlimited mailbox
support, are now available for use and further open development. Soon a day will
come when all networking gear runs open software and services."

ClearFoundation's ClearOS provides an optimal IT solution for environments
through integration with "in the cloud" services from ClearCenter and others
like Google Apps. Adding value to ClearOS, ClearCenter offers free software and
bug fixes for the current versions of ClearOS. The open ClearOS API allows a
flexible platform for connectivity to third-party open and closed applications,
both locally on the platform and in the cloud.

ClearCenter provides a variety of products, new features, third-party software
and, technical and platform services that extend the functionality of the
platform for production and enterprise installations. These services include
vital content and software updates offered by ClearCenter's Service Delivery
Network platform called ClearSDN and from other ClearCenter partners from around
the globe. ClearCenter will launch its ClearSDN services and partner program in
October of 2009.

"No other Linux distribution provides the tightly integrated services of ClearOS
5.1," said John H. Terpstra, President of ClearFoundation. "ClearOS is uniquely
targeted at sites that are distributed and have fewer than 50 users. Key
benefits include: freedom from vendor lock-in, reduced operating cost,
scalability, and extensive support. ClearOS provides perimeter security, unified
threat management, content filtration, file sharing, messaging, MultiWAN and
other essential data services. The WebConfig interface provides a simple, yet
secure, remote management tool integrating ClearOS into the ClearSDN management
environment. The real power behind ClearOS is the community that contributes to
its accelerating development."
