Carlyle to take 15 pct stake in Taiwan Mobile

HONG KONG, Sept 16 (Reuters) - The Carlyle Group will take a 15 percent stake in Taiwan Mobile (3045.TW) as part of an asset and share swap deal worth around $1.8 billion, according to sources with direct knowledge of the deal.

Carlyle is selling its cable operator KBRO to Taiwan Mobile, and as part of the deal will take a 15 percent stake in Taiwan Mobile. Carlyle will become the company's second largest shareholder, according to one of the sources.

The deal is expected to be announced Wednesday, said the sources.

The enterprise value of the cable asset is around $1.8 billion, the sources said.
