Telemedicine ecosystem provides on-call neurologists, video-conferencing
capabilities, and web-based consultation platform
PALM SPRINGS, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
GlobalMedia, NeuroCall and REACH Call today announced that they have partnered
to create a telemedicine ecosystem designed to help expand the resources
available for treating patients in underserved areas. This fully integrated
solution provides neurologist call coverage, video-conferencing hardware and
software, and web-based consultation modules to hospitals across the U.S. to
speed the diagnosis and treatment of patients in time critical situations such
as stroke.

Stroke continues to be the third-leading cause of death in the United States.
With just one neurologist for every 18,000 Americans, many hospitals have no
neurologist on staff to diagnose and treat stroke victims. And, because a
neurologist must evaluate, diagnose and treat a stroke patient within three
hours of symptoms to prevent long-term disability or death, rural stroke
patients lose precious time if they are transported to a larger hospital for an
evaluation by a specialist.

GlobalMedia, NeuroCall and REACH Call have independently addressed this problem
of inadequate stroke and acute neurology care for several years. However, this
new partnership brings added benefits to hospitals, including:

*Integrated technology: GlobalMedia, NeuroCall and REACH Call have collaborated
to ensure their solutions work together, providing an interoperable, seamless
system for customers.

*Scalable solutions: hospitals may add or subtract the various elements of this
neurological telemedicine solution as needed.

NeuroCall provides the physicians. An accredited team of neurologists conducts
remote consultations via telemedicine at any facility, regardless of geographic
location. NeuroCall has hand-picked its physicians to ensure the utmost
competency, quality and consistency of care.

GlobalMedia provides the video-conferencing technology. The EasyshareVC
videoconferencing software, camera and cart give the physician full control of
the instant two-way secure audio/videoconferencing session.

REACH Call provides the integrated telestroke/telemedicine module. The Web-based
platform provides decision support tools that provide a systematic approach to
the highest standards of stroke care. Furthermore, it automatically generates
consult reports and statistical data to streamline post-consult record keeping,
billing and quality improvement.

"We are thrilled about our three-way partnership that allows us to create a
complete telemedicine ecosystem for our customers," said Sandeep Agate, REACH
Call president and CEO. "With NeuroCall`s call coverage services, GlobalMedia`s
advanced video-conferencing solutions, and REACH`s 100% browser-based consult
modules, our customers will be able to establish, grow and effectively manage a
fully integrated telemedicine network."

"The successful combination of these strategic elements forms an unprecedented
telemedicine solution that moves us closer to the day when all patients will
have access to world-class physicians and cutting-edge technology, no matter
where they live," said Ricardo Garcia Rivera, MD, CEO and medical director of
NeuroCall.

"These three companies together form an effective, scalable solution to the
ever-increasing specialist shortage," said Mr. Joel E. Barthelemy, GlobalMedia`s
Managing Director, "REACH Call`s expertise in developing stroke networks
nationwide merges nicely with a team of specialists that will take calls for
stroke networks already in place."

Hospitals with inadequate neurology coverage can take advantage of NeuroCall`s
team of specialists, who are always on call. GlobalMedia provides the physicians
with a high quality audio and video interface to conduct a tele-neurologic
consultation. Finally, REACH Call`s integrated application allows the physicians
to easily and conveniently complete and document a remote consultation. The
imaging studies are incorporated directly into the software, allowing them to be
viewed and interpreted in real-time.
