No formal request yet for more Afghan troops: White House

ALBANY, New York (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama has not yet received a formal request for more forces in Afghanistan, although he has seen General Stanley McChrystal's report, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said on Monday.

The White House will assess its Afghan strategy before making decisions on new resources and does not expect a request for more troops for "a little bit longer," Gibbs said.
