NEW YORK, Sept 21 |
NEW YORK, Sept 21 (Reuters) - PG&E Corp's (PCG.N) 1,150-megawatt Unit 1 at the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant in California was shut as of early Monday, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission said in its daily reactor status report.
On Friday, the unit was operating at 87 percent power.
The Diablo Canyon station is located in Avila Beach in San Luis Obispo County about 195 miles (314 km) northwest of Los Angeles.
The station has two units, both rated at 1,150 MW.
Meanwhile, Unit 2 had ramped up to full capacity as of early Monday from about 80 percent on Friday.
Unit 2 had been operating at reduced capacity since late August ahead of a planned refueling outage expected to begin in early October.
PG&E, of San Francisco, owns and operates more than 6,200 MW of generating capacity, markets energy commodities, and transmits and distributes electricity to almost 5.3 million customers and natural gas to 4.2 million customers in California. (Reporting by Joe Silha, editing by John Picinich)
