ECB's Weber sees significant progress at G20 summit
BERLIN |
BERLIN (Reuters) - European Central Bank Governing Council member Axel Weber said on Thursday he expected the Group of Twenty summit in Pittsburgh to agree on long-term changes to global financial structures.
Speaking on Deutschlandfunk German radio, Weber also said he expected the summit, which starts later on Thursday, to achieve more than previous G20 gatherings in London and Washington which he described as preparatory meetings.
"I am happy that G20 leaders and regulators have a broad consensus on the issues and on the agenda ... Pittsburgh will be the end of a process we have been working toward and it will yield significantly more progress than the interim meetings," he said.
