NEW YORK, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Valero Energy Corp said on Thursday it shut down a hydrocracker unit at the east plant of its 340,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas, for unplanned maintenance, according to a filing made with state environmental regulators.

In a filing with the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality, the company said the cause of the shutdown is not known at this time. The unit was shut early Thursday morning. (Reporting by Janet McGurty))
