India's Reliance to cut gas to Rel Infrastructure

MUMBAI, Sept 24 | Thu Sep 24, 2009 7:27am EDT

MUMBAI, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Reliance Industries Ltd (RELI.BO) said on Thursday it plans to suspend gas supply to Reliance Infrastructure's (RLIN.BO) power plant in southern India.

Reliance Industries is run by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, and his estranged brother Anil controls Reliance Infrastructure.

"The notice has been issued due to default committed by Reliance Infrastructure in payment of the amounts due, under the invoice for gas supplied during the first fortnight of September 2009," Reliance Industries said in a statement. (Reporting by Prashant Mehra; Editing by John Mair)
