Gazprom, KOGAS sign memorandum on Russia LNG plant

SALEKHARD, Russia, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Gazprom (GAZP.MM), Russia's gas export monopoly, has signed a memorandum of understanding with South Korean state-owned KOGAS (036460.KS) to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in Russia's Far East.

Gazprom Chief Executive Alexei Miller made the announcement on Thursday at a meeting of foreign energy executives and Russian officials in the Arctic city of Salekhard.

Miller also called for a zero mineral extraction tax to be applied to gas fields in the Yamal region of northern Russia. (Reporting by Gleb Bryanski, writing by Robin Paxton)
