ATLANTA, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Science Applications International (SAI.N) said on Thursday that it moved its corporate headquarters to McLean, Virginia, from San Diego to be closer to federal government customers.

The provider of systems engineering and operational logistics said it has about 17,500 workers in metropolitan Washington, D.C., its biggest concentration of staff.

Walt Havenstein, who joined SAIC as chief executive this month from BAE Systems (BAES.L), said the move would allow the company to respond more quickly to its customer base. (Reporting by Karen Jacobs; Editing by Steve Orlofsky)
