Colorado Department of Education Teams Up With Universal Mind To Create
SchoolView, Engages Colorado Educators and Parents
DENVER, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Mind announced today that it is
named a finalist for the Adobe MAX education award for its work with the
Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and Center for Assessment on
SchoolView(TM) and the Colorado Growth Model, a data visualization application
that provides measures of student growth and achievement for all schools and
students across the state. Based on Adobe Flex and AIR, SchoolView is capable
of easily showing educators, administrators and parents historical education
performance data and providing a revealing and highly engaging, new way to
look and converse about student and school outcomes.
The annual Adobe MAX Awards recognize the best uses of Adobe software for
creating engaging experiences. SchoolView is one of four finalists in the
Education category. Public voting begins Monday, September 28 at
http://max.adobe.com/awards/finalists. Voting is open until Tuesday, October 6
and winners will be announced live at the event, the same day.
"We are very proud to work with the CDE and the Center for Assessment on
SchoolView providing parents and educators an actionable look into schools'
performance," said Brett Cortese, President of Universal Mind. "With this
tool, users can view student performance information by location and time, and
make more informed decisions about their children's education."
Utilizing the Colorado Growth Model, SchoolView provides Colorado Student
Assessment Program performance data from all of Colorado's 178 districts and
more than 1,800 schools. Users are able to filter the data by school,
location, content area, or type of school enabling powerful comparisons that
foster important conversations about student performance and its relation to
school quality. The SchoolView program's browser-based and AIR applications
were built using Adobe Flex and data is served to the browser-based
application via BlazeDS. Other Adobe technology used within SchoolView
includes PDF, for individual student reports, and CS4 for the application
skin.
