Nikkei hits 2-mth low as stronger yen hurts exporters

TOKYO, Sept 28 | Sun Sep 27, 2009 8:25pm EDT

TOKYO, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average slid more than 2 percent to hit a two-month low on Monday, dragged down by exporters such as Honda Motor (7267.T) on a sharply stronger yen and after disappointing housing and durable goods data fuelled worries about the strength of a U.S. recovery.

The benchmark Nikkei .N225 fell 2.1 percent to 10,046.07, and fell as low as 10,018.13, its lowest level since late July.

The broader Topix .TOPX shed 2.2 percent to 902.21. (Reporting by Aiko Hayashi)
