Dell names Narayen to board, Krawcheck departs

SAN FRANCISCO | Tue Sep 29, 2009 6:56pm EDT

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Dell Inc on Tuesday named Adobe Systems Chief Executive Shantanu Narayen to its board, as director Sallie Krawcheck steps down.

In August, Bank of America hired Krawcheck, the former chief financial officer and wealth management chief of Citigroup Inc, to run the combined brokerage of Bank of America and Merrill Lynch.

Krawcheck resigned from Dell's board to focus more fully on her responsibilities at Bank of America, Dell said in a statement. She has been a Dell director since July 2006.

Narayen joins Dell's board immediately and will stand for election at the company's next shareholders meeting. He's been CEO of Adobe since December of 2007.

"As CEO of one of the world's largest and most diversified software companies, Shantanu will provide us with valuable insight as we develop and deliver IT solutions to customers," said Dell Chief Executive Michael Dell said in a statement.
