NEW YORK, Sept 30 (Reuters) - Anadarko Petroleum (APC.N) said Wednesday the majority of scheduled maintenance on the huge Independence Hub natural gas production platform in the Gulf of Mexico was completed during the third quarter of 2009.

A company spokesman said the platform was expected to run at about 700 million cubic feet per day or more through the end of the year. Independence is the largest gas processing facility in the Gulf, with capacity to process up to 1 billion cubic feet per day.

Spokesman John Christiansen said the vast majority of the maintenance was completed, with work on six of the seven allocation separators at Independence done.

The Independence Hub is in waters up to 9,000 feet in Mississippi Canyon 920 in the Gulf of Mexico.

Anadarko operates the platform for its owners, Enterprise Products Partners LP (EPD.N) (80 percent) and Helix Energy Solutions Group Inc (20 percent). (Reporting by Eileen Moustakis, Janet McGurty and Rebekah Kebede; Editing by David Gregorio)
