WASHINGTON--(Business Wire)--
In an effort to protect and strengthen education reform efforts in the District
of Columbia, more than 2,000 D.C. families will loudly voice their strong
support for the endangered D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program at a Wednesday,
September 30th rally on Capitol Hill.

Invited and/or confirmed speakers include U.S. Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, U.S.
House of Representatives Minority Leader John Boehner, former U.S. Education
Secretary Margaret Spellings, D.C. Councilman Marion Barry, Pennsylvania State
Senator Anthony Williams, former D.C. Councilman Kevin P. Chavous, Black
Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO) Founder and Chair Howard Fuller, and
Bruce Stewart, former head of school at Sidwell Friends School. Parents and
students will also speak.

The D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program, which is now facing complete
elimination by the President and Members of Congress, has served more than 3,300
low-income children and has been hailed as one of the most effective
federally-funded education programs in recent history.

The "Save School Choice" rally is sponsored by the D.C. Black Alliance for
Educational Options, (www.SaveSchoolChoice.com), an organization that works with
parents to identify educational opportunities in the District and to educate the
public about the need for meaningful school choice. The rally will take place at
Upper Senate Park (New Jersey Avenue, NW and Constitution Avenue, NW) from 11:30
a.m. to 1 p.m.
