NEW YORK--(Business Wire)--
Today, Valiant Technology announced the winners of the "Design The 4th Bin"
competition. The competition sought ideas and concepts from around the globe for
a public domain e-waste logo and a licensed collection bin for e-waste.
Initially conceived in response to New York City Local Law 13, which prohibits
electronic waste disposal in the regular trash, the concept of the 4th bin has
ignited a response from the design community and ecologically conscious firms
around the world. The respondents ranged from design students to internationally
recognized industrial designers and architects.

First prize for the collection bin went to Springtime of Amsterdam. First prize
for the e-waste logo went to Two Twelve of New York City. There were three
runner up projects for the collection bin, Baharash Bagherian of London, AM/PM
Studios of New Hampshire, and Alistair Bramley. First runner up for the e-waste
logo was Kevin Elliot James of Toronto. The winners of the bin design will
receive $3000 and the runners up will split $1000. The winners of the logo
design will receive $1500 and the runner up will receive $500. The complete list
of finalists can be found at http://www.4thbin.org.

Valiant Technology also announced it has founded a business dedicated to e-waste
rescue. Michael Deutsch, COO of The 4th Bin said, "The 4th Bin is a new concept
in e-waste recycling. The 4th Bin is creating a methodology for large and small
businesses to recycle their unused cell phones and computer equipment with
minimal effort and expense." In the near future, The 4th Bin will be partnering
with several charities and non-profit organizations for the purpose of
conducting a series of e-waste recycling campaigns. Portions of the proceeds
from collected e-waste are donated to the participating organizations. These
joint promotions will assist the charities and non-profits by creating another
source of funding during the current financial environment while providing NYC
businesses another channel to contribute their excess electronics for a greener
environment.
