FACTBOX: Military deaths in Afghanistan
(Reuters) - Insurgents stormed remote outposts in eastern Afghanistan killing eight Americans in the deadliest battle in more than a year near the border with Pakistan, the U.S. military said on Sunday.
The fighting took place in the Kamdesh district of Nuristan province in high mountains on the eastern border with Pakistan.
Here are figures for foreign military deaths as a result of violence or accidents in Afghanistan since 2001:
