Woodbury Financial Services Appoints Jennifer Relien As Senior Counsel

Woodbury veteran rejoins broker/dealer to lead Regulatory Response Team WOODBURY, Minn.--(Business Wire)-- Woodbury Financial Services announced that Jennifer Relien rejoined the firm and has been named senior counsel, effective today. In her new role, Relien is responsible for oversight of Woodbury's Regulatory Response Team, assisting with contracts and litigation matters, and providing advice on a variety of regulatory issues. She reports to Mark Sides, Woodbury`s chief legal officer. Relien sits on the FINRA District 4 Committee. From 1996 to 2002, Relien served in roles of increasing responsibility at Woodbury, including law clerk, attorney and assistant counsel. Most recently, she served as general counsel and secretary at Thrivent Investment Management, an affiliated broker/dealer and investment advisor of Thrivent Financial, where she provided legal support across the organization and strategic direction for the firm`s distribution of financial services and proprietary and non-proprietary product offerings. Before that, she was vice president and assistant general counsel at U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray, where she provided legal advice on all matters relating to the firm`s retail business line. "Jennifer brings a wealth of knowledge based on her many years in the industry," said Sides. Relien earned a bachelor`s degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and a Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minn. She is admitted to practice law in Minnesota and Wisconsin and is a member of the Hennepin County Bar Association. In addition to her role on the FINRA District 4 Committee, Relien is a member of the SIFMA Compliance & Legal Division and the National Society of Compliance Professionals. From 2000 to 2003, she served as treasurer and board member of the MSBA Corporate Counsel Association. She holds FINRA Series 6, 26 and 65 licenses.
