Department of Public Welfare Announces Consolidation of Philadelphia Area
County Assistance Offices





HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Secretary of Public Welfare
Estelle B. Richman today announced the consolidation of the Alden and Lehigh
District Offices within the Philadelphia County Assistance Office System.  


Effective Oct. 13, the Alden and Lehigh offices will be merged into the new
Glendale District Office, located at 5201 Old York Road, Philadelphia. All
telephone numbers will remain the same.


While the department is taking steps to notify all clients served at each
location, consumers should see no interruption in their benefits or services
as a result of the consolidation. Clients with questions or concerns related
to the office relocation or the status of their benefits should call the
Statewide Customer Service Center, toll-free, at 1-877-395-8930.


The Department of Public Welfare administers program benefits and services
statewide including SNAP (food stamps), Medical Assistance, cash assistance,
employment training and LIHEAP to residents of Pennsylvania in need of
assistance through 94 county assistance offices.  Individuals and families can
apply for benefits online at www.compass.state.pa.us or by visiting their
local county assistance office.
