Grupo Elektra Announces Production of Over 120,000 Italika Motorcycles During
First Year of Ensamblika Plant Operation
-Italika motorcycles represent leading transportation alternative

MEXICO CITY, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Grupo Elektra, S.A. de C.V.
(BMV: ELEKTRA*; Latibex: XEKT), Latin America's leading financial services
company and specialty retailer -- controlled by Ricardo Salinas, President of
Group Salinas -- announced today that more than 120,000 Italika motorcycles
have been assembled in the company's Ensamblika plant since operations began
one year ago.
In September 2008, Grupo Elektra inaugurated Mexico's largest motorcycle
assembly plant in Toluca, where knock-down assembly is done for the domestic
market.
The 35,000 m2 plant produces the majority of the Italika motorcycles sold
at Elektra stores and has capacity to expand production volumes twofold as
demand increases.
Ensamblika generates more than 500 direct and 2,000 indirect jobs, in
addition to the network of more than 500 small businesses that operate as
Italika service and distribution centers.
Italika motorcycles are put through strict safety and operational tests to
ensure that they are top in the market. Sales represent 50% of the domestic
market motorcycle market thanks to a solid product and accessible payment
options through Banco Azteca.
The Ensamblika plant spurs economic development throughout the production
process that helps thousands of families, while providing an important
transport alternative for large segments of the Mexican population.
